Challenge:
End-of-month financial close was a critical bottleneck: three days of manual data extraction, reconciliation, and validation across invoices, subscriptions, and adjustments, leaving room for human error and delaying financial reporting.
Solution:
An autonomous Claude-powered finance agent integrated directly with the billing API, using function calling to pull invoice, subscription, and adjustment data in real time and autonomously reconcile it against exported records. Claude's ability to maintain multi-turn context allowed the agent to reason through discrepancies, flag anomalies, and produce an auditable trail, all without human intervention between API call and final report.
Impact:
Transformed a three-day manual close into a same-day, auditable, repeatable workflow, freeing finance staff for higher-value analysis and reducing month-end pressure.
