Boris Portman - Managing Director

Boris Portman brings more than fourteen years experience building and managing product development, product management, professional services, and information technology departments. He has worked in startup, mid-size, as well as Fortune 100 companies in the healthcare, content management/workflow, and recruiting industries. Boris focuses on Outsourcing, Technical Talent Placement, and Agile Consulting.

Before joining Growth Acceleration Partners, Boris was a partner at TechTalent International, focusing on helping high-growth Austin and Silicon Valley software companies recruit the best senior technical talent.

Prior to joining TechTalent International, Boris was VP of Product Development and Information Technology for Austin-based PeopleAdmin, Inc., a market-leading applicant-tracking Application Service Provider. Before PeopleAdmin, Boris held various VP and Director level positions at Catalis Health, Partnerware, and Broadvision. Prior to managing technology organizations, Boris held various software-engineering roles at Intel as well as the Software Engineering Institute and the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University.

As a Certified ScrumMaster as well as the founding Program Chair for Agile Austin, Boris coaches software teams internationally on agile software methodologies and speaks at various conferences on software team process improvement. Boris also takes an active leadership role in a variety of local user groups in technology, as well as volunteers in community organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Habitat Young Professionals, and the Leadership Enrichment Arts Program (LEAP).

Boris earned his Master's degree in Software Engineering and Business from Carnegie Mellon’s Software Engineering Institute (SEI) and Tepper School of Business, where he co-founded the Carnegie Mellon University Entrepreneurial Association. Boris also earned his Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, and business from Carnegie Mellon University.
